On September 2, 2012, Lionel Louison rescued a suicidal man who was in danger of drowning in Great Bear Lake, in Deline, Northwest Territories. Mr. Louison ran into the near-freezing water and swam out to the victim who had drifted several metres away. In total darkness, he struggled in the deep, rough water to pull the man back to the dock where others helped them get out.
