On September 4, 2012, security officer Abdul Ayoola and Sûreté du Québec police sergeants Stéphane Champagne and Jean-Marc Rochon apprehended an armed man who had shot two people in Montréal, Quebec. Sergeants Champagne and Rochon, joined by Mr. Ayoola, chased the heavily armed attacker who suddenly pointed his gun at them. As the assailant was trying to reload his weapon, Sergeant Champagne ran over and tackled him to the ground. Sergeant Rochon and Mr. Ayoola quickly disarmed the man and restrained him until help arrived.
