On September 23, 2011, Jean-Pierre Désaulniers rescued an unconscious man from a burning house, in Saint-Étienne-des-Grès, Quebec. With the front door blocked by furniture, Mr. Désaulniers entered the house through the living room window. He searched through the thick smoke until he found the victim, and then dragged him to the window, where other people helped them out to safety.
