On September 29, 2009, Michael Sharpe rescued a man from a burning fuel truck, which had overturned on a highway in Northern Alberta. Mr. Sharpe rushed through the smoke and flames to reach the damaged vehicle and managed to pull the injured driver to safety just moments before the truck was completely engulfed.
