Éric Beaulieu, M.B.
Medal of Bravery
On December 17, 2009, Éric Beaulieu risked his life to save a friend while snowmobiling in Les Escoumins, Quebec. His friend inadvertently lost control of his snowmobile and wound up at the bottom of a ravine. For nearly half an hour, in temperatures nearing -25 oC, Mr. Beaulieu made a Herculean effort to scale the ravine walls and push his friend to the top. He then placed the victim, who was suffering from chilblains, onto his snowmobile and safely transported him to his cabin before setting off in search of help. Along the way, his snowmobile ran out of gas, so he had to walk for two hours before finally being able to call 911. Thanks to Mr. Beaulieu's determination, his friend survived.
