On April 12, 2010, Michel Masse saved a distressed teenager who was trying to drown herself in Saint François Bay, in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec. Mr. Masse and his spouse were out for a walk when they saw the young girl throw herself into the frigid water. Without hesitation, Mr. Masse jumped into the water and swam with difficulty toward the girl, who was being carried away by the current. Despite his fatigue, Mr. Masse found the strength to bring her back to shore, safe and sound.
