Constable David Paul Murtha, M.B.
Medal of Bravery
On May 3, 2010, Constable David Murtha, of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, rescued a man from a burning house, in Lindsay, Ontario. When he arrived on the scene, Constable Murtha could see flames shooting from the roof. Advised that the occupant was still in the basement, Constable Murtha entered and went downstairs, crawling beneath a layer of dense smoke. He located the occupant in the basement and managed to guide the resident up the stairs and through the house, away from the extreme heat and flames.
