On April 19, 2010, Tyler Laton entered a burning house to evacuate its two occupants, in Airdrie, Alberta. While others called 911, Mr. Laton entered a neighbour's house, the garage of which was on fire. He called out to see if anyone was inside, and searched throughout the smoke-filled main floor. He made his way upstairs to alert the occupants, who seemed unaware of the imminent danger. He quickly got them outside as the fire spread to neighbouring houses.
