Kevin Jelley-Kasper, M.B.
Medal of Bravery
On October 12, 2007, Kevin Jelley-Kasper pulled an intoxicated man from a burning vehicle, in Mississauga, Ontario. Mr. Jelley-Kasper noticed a vehicle on fire in a parking lot and heard the driver scream that he was stuck. As flames and smoke rose from the car's engine, Mr. Jelley-Kasper reached inside and struggled to untie the man's seat belt. By then, the fire was spreading up from the bottom of the dashboard. The rescuer could feel the heat as he tried to pull the driver out, who was gripping the steering wheel in panic. After some effort, Mr. Jelley-Kasper was finally able to move the uncooperative man a safe distance away.
