On August 20, 1997, Teresina Batikayo went to the aid of a bus driver who was being stabbed near his vehicle in London, Ontario. Witnessing the assault, Mrs. Batikayo grabbed the crazed assailant from behind and managed to pin his arms to his side. While she maintained a firm grip on him, others came to her assistance and the man dropped the knife in the struggle that ensued. Although she and the aggressor fell to the ground, Mrs. Batikayo held onto him until others took over pending arrival of the police.
