Star of Courage
On August 13, 1998, David Johnson and Marc Rivest rescued a pilot from the burning wreckage of his helicopter in Sandwich South Township, Ontario. Messrs. Johnson and Rivest were driving to work when they witnessed the mechanically-defective helicopter plummet to the ground in a field and catch fire. With complete disregard for their own safety, the rescuers raced to the crash scene and managed to free the pilot from the twisted debris. They had dragged the severely-injured victim some 20 metres away before the aircraft burst into flames.
