Medal of Bravery
On May 16, 1997, Marc Beaulieu and two bus drivers, Claude Bergeron and Paul-André Boucher, apprehended an enraged man who was attacking his wife in a metro station in Montréal, Quebec. Mr. Bergeron witnessed the assault and intervened in an attempt to calm the violent behaviour of the attacker, thus enabling the victim to escape. Despite being stabbed twice during the ensuing hand to hand encounter, Mr. Bergeron continued to struggle with the man until Mr. Beaulieu arrived on the scene. The unstable individual then attempted to stab Mr. Beaulieu before running away. However, Messrs. Beaulieu and Bergeron chased him outside, and Mr. Boucher managed to grab him despite the threat of his knife. The three men then restrained the attacker until the police arrived.
