On August 15, 1998, Steven Skinner went to the help of a man who was being attacked by a group of men in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Alerted by the screams, Mr. Skinner witnessed his neighbour being savagely beaten into unconsciousness by seven large aggressors. While other witnesses stood by fearful of intervening, with complete disregard for his own safety, Mr. Skinner jumped into the midst of the group. He used all his strength to pull the men off the victim and persevered in his attempts until the aggressors abandoned their attack. Mr. Skinner's intervention clearly prevented further injury to the victim.
