On 31 May 1980, while fishing from a bridge at Lake Gibson, Paul Prysiazniuk saw a canoe capsize with its three teen-age occupants. One of them floundered in deep water, crying for help and began to sink. Then, at great danger to himself, Mr. Prysiazniuk dived off the railing of the bridge into the icy, swift-moving waters to rescue the semi-conscious young man. Swimming against the current, he towed the victim safely to shore.
