Boas Kairtok, M.B.
Medal of Bravery
On May 7, 1971, nineteen-year-old Boas Kairtok saved a friend from certain death by electrocution. Several youths were playing on the roof of a building, near a high voltage line. The victim apparently lost his footing and grabbed the wire where he remained helpless and unable to let go. Mr. Kairtok tried pulling his friend free but was pushed away by the force of the charge. Still exposing himself to the possibility of serious injury or even, death, Mr. Kairtok kicked the boy free. The victim survived the ordeal which might have proved fatal, had it not been for Boas Kairtok's courage.
