    Constable Joseph Henri Germain Albert, M.B. Sergeant Joseph Ferdinand François Marcel Mailloux, M.B. Medal of Bravery On October 5, 1972, Cst. Germain Albert and Sgt. Marcel Mailloux, members of the Harbour Police in Montreal, succeeded in bringing a would-be-suicide down from the 250-foot level of the Jacques-Cartier Bridge. Informed that the man was on a girder at the top of the bridge, Cst Albert came to the scene where he was joined by Sgt Mailloux. In order to take him by surprise, the two police officers climbed a bridge ladder leading to a point behind where the man was seated. In this precarious situation, they seized the man, forced him on his back and bound his legs and arms. The officers tried reasoning with him but he could not be persuaded to cooperate. In his distraught state he endangered all their lives but the police officers displaying coolness and courage, completed the rescue, bringing the victim down an aerial ladder which the fire service had brought to the scene.

    Lieutenant Marcel Joseph Ferdinand François Mailloux, M.B. and Bar Corporal George Joseph Rouleau, M.B. Medal of Bravery Lt Marcel Mailloux and Cpl George Rouleau of the National Harbours Board Police removed a victim of epilepsy from Jacques Cartier Bridge in Montreal on 4 November 1977. The man was observed in a main cross-beam of the structure some seventy metres above the river. Lt Mailloux and Cpl Rouleau climbed the bridge despite very adverse weather conditions and when reaching the victim were obliged to secure him to the structure as he was suffering seizures. After he had calmed down they proceeded to descend, the officers taking every precaution to avoid their falling from the bridge. In the last stage of the rescue and still at grave risk, they assisted the victim down a fireman's hundred foot ladder. * This is the second award of a Medal of Bravery to Lt. Mailloux.
