Glenn Calder and Ronald Noye saved the life of a man whose car had overturned and burst into flames near Coquitlam, British Columbia. Arriving on the scene, Cst. Calder found other police attacking the fire with extinguishers. He went directly to the car door. At this point he was joined by Cst. Noye and together they drew the victim part-way out before they were forced back by the heat. In a second effort they succeeded in freeing the driver and lifted him up the embankment moments before the car exploded. The victim and both constables suffered severe burns.
