Clément Moisan helped three nuns and a youth to escape from a car which had rolled down a ravine and come to rest on a shelf of ice along the Mekinac River at La Tuque on 19 January 1975. Mr. Moisan and his son witnessed the accident while driving by and raced to the water's edge. The younger Moisan took the young man and one of the nuns up the hill while his father attended to the driver and an injured passenger in the rear seat. The car was gradually sinking as the rescue was being carried out, and Mr. Moisan was in the ice to his waist as he strained to remove the nuns. The victims slid on the ice, and several minutes elapsed before the party finally regained the shore. In a very little time the car filled with water and sank.
