On the evening of 17 April 1984, seventeen-year-old Anthony Mannett saved his friend from certain death by electrocution. The two youths were going toward the beach on a secluded road to fetch Anthony`s bicycle. As Andrew's friend raised his right hand in an attempt to protect his face from a hanging wire, a 7,200-volt electric charge locked his grip. Fully aware of the possibility of serious injury or death should he touch the victim, Anthony nonetheless rushed forward. He quickly removed his jacket and looped it over his friend`s wrist, pulling with all his strength to free him from the grasp of the high-power line. He applied mouth-to-mouth breathing then ran for help. The victim sustained multiple burns, but survived the mishap.
