Paul Serveau, M.B.
Medal of Bravery
On August 29, 1971, at St. John's, Newfoundland, Paul Serveau was mainly responsible for the rescue of four persons who were in danger of drowning. M. Serveau was driving behind a car containing a family of four when their vehicle went out of control and plunged into the St. John's Harbour. Without hesitation he dove into the harbour and swam to the sinking car. The rescuer succeeded first in pulling the two children free and then extricated the parents moments before the vehicle submerged. A party of sailors from a nearby ship arrived in a motor launch and the victims and their rescuer were helped from the water.
