Edgar Jubinville, M.B. (deceased)
Medal of Bravery
Edgar Jubinville, a safety patrolman in Vanier, Ontario on January 14, 1971, saved a ten-year-old girl from serious injury when both were struck by a car on a crosswalk. Mr. Jubinville was helping children to cross the busy road and assured himself that the way was clear before escorting the little girl across. He observed a car approaching but concluded that the driver had ample time to pull up. Suddenly, he realized that the car was not going to stop and he grasped the child seconds before both were hit and dragged some 35 feet. Mr. Jubinville suffered a broken knee but the child happily was not injured.
