Paulette Elizabeth Burns, M.B. Douglas Richard Isaac, M.B. Medal of Bravery Paulette Burns and Douglas Isaac saved a man and a woman from drowning in the Avon River near Windsor, Nova Scotia, on 20 July 1977. The four comprised a party who were stranded on the mud-flats in mid-stream when their dinghy drifted away on the rising tide. The group now had to rely on Mr. Isaac and Paulette Burns, the only swimmers among them, to take them to shore. They breasted a strong current for some five kilometres, and it was only through their determination and endurance that all came safely to shore.
