Medal of Bravery
On May 29, 1980, Messrs. Crépault and Gélinas contributed to the rescue of a Canadian Coast Guard pilot, from a helicopter that had crashed at Cap Tourmente (Québec). The two men belonged to a survey party of four and were passengers on the aircraft. While they were deplaning, the craft tilted backwards, its tail suddenly swung around killing one passenger instantly, then it crashed against nearby rocks. The unconscious pilot was hurt and trapped inside the cockpit; the motor was still running at full speed. Though aware of the possibility of fire and explosion, Messrs. Crépault and Gélinas willingly assisted a colleague in removing the pilot and transported him to safety.
