Medal of Bravery

On May 17, 1992, near Millet, Alberta, Mr. Robertson and off-duty Sgt. Guthrie tried to save three people trapped in a burning car. Arriving separately at the accident scene, they heard an explosion and saw flames at the rear of the vehicle. They immediately ran over and tried unsuccessfully to open the doors. Together, they managed to bend the window frame of the passenger door enough to be able to reach in and pull the dazed driver out. Before they could release the other two passengers trapped in the back seat, flames engulfed the vehicle.
