On March 10, 1985, Daryl Glenham saw a van crash and burst into flames. Despite the obvious danger, he rushed to the wreck, finding a man struggling to get out but trapped by the jammed door. Mr. Glenham pulled at the bottom of the door, creating a small opening. Ignoring the flames and his proximity to the gas tank, he then reached in, grasped the victim, and pulled, succeeding in getting him half-way out before falling. Grabbing the man again, he managed to pull him out and away from the van. Shortly after, Mr. Glenham learned that another man had been in the vehicle, but by then the fire was too intense and rescue impossible.
