Kevin Fox, aged fourteen, helped to save a boy, aged eight, and his mother from drowning in the Pouce Coupe River near Bonanza, Alberta, on 2 August 1977. When the boy was seen floundering in the water some twelve feet from shore, Kevin went at once to his aid and brought him in. The boy's mother had in the meantime also tried to reach her child but was carried away by the current. Seeing her in distress, Kevin re-entered the river and was able to seize her. They returned to shore and were helped out of the water by Kevin's mother.
