Police Cst. André Dubuc saved the life of a man after a highway accident near Saint-Jérôme on the night of 5 June 1975. At the time of the mishap it was raining heavily, and the car skidded off the road and smashed head-on into a concrete abutment of a bridge. When Cst. Dubuc came on the scene he the man severely injured and lying under the burning car, which was now loosely wedged a few feet above ground between one abutment and another. Braving the flames and the imminent danger of being crushed, Cst. Dubuc crawled to the victim and pulled him away moments before the car exploded.
