Sergeant Marc Brunelle, M.B., C.D.
Medal of Bravery
On October 13, 1994, then MCpl. Bédard and Sgt. Brunelle of the Canadian Forces saved a man who had jumped into the Des Prairies River, in Montréal, Quebec. Seeing the victim two hundred metres from shore, the two men jumped into the frigid waters and swam out to him. They grabbed hold of him and, despite the current, succeeded in bringing him close to shore, where other people came to their aid. Sgt. Brunelle also helped an exhausted Sgt. Bédard back to shore.
