Ronald Page, M.B.
Medal of Bravery
Ronald Page of Marysville, New Brunswick, saved a young boy from drowning in the icy waters of Kanes Creek, a run-off from the Nashwaak River near Marysville, New Brunswick, on November 23, 1969. The young boy was halfway across the frozen surface of the river when the ice suddenly gave way under him. Hearing his cries, another child ran to summon help. Responding to the call, Ronald Page, who lived nearby, attempted at first to push a plank out to the child but the boy was paralysed from the cold water and could not hold on. Mr. Page plunged into the water and grasping the child made his way to the more solid ice and finally brought him safely to shore.
