In the early hours on June 19, 1993, Mr. Brown searched a burning house in Arnprior, Ontario, for children he believed to be trapped inside. Awakened by screams, he rushed to the nearby scene and, after hearing that the children might be in the burning house, tried to break down the locked front door. Unable to do so, he threw a tricycle through the front window and climbed barefoot inside the smoke-filled residence. He crawled through all the rooms looking for them, stopping his search when the firefighters arrived. It was eventually confirmed that the house had been empty.
