On 8 February 1981 Gordon Clark suddenly became aware that fire had broken out in the trailer next door. Still convalescing from open-heart surgery he had undergone six months previously, Mr. Clark entered the smoke-filled trailer, heard moaning inside, found a woman unconscious and dragged her some ten metres out to the porch. He then asked his wife to bring therapeutic oxygen apparatus and used it to administer artificial respiration to the victim until the Fire Department arrived. The woman recovered.
