Terrance Gordon Budreo, M.B.
Medal of Bravery
Terrance Budreo saved a twelve-year-old boy from the turbulent waters at the base of a dam on Cowan Lake, near Big River, Saskatchewan, on May 11, 1975. The boy fell from the structure when its gates were opened to lower the level of the lake. The boy's mother summoned help from several witnesses fishing nearby and received an immediate response from Mr. Budreo. The rescuer removed his boots and jumped into the frigid water. Battling the whirlpools, he reached the victim several yards downstream and grabbed hold of him. The exhausted youth showed little resistance and was pulled ashore. But for Mr. Budreo's prompt and courageous intervention, the boy would almost certainly have been drowned.
