Capt. Harold Brazeau rescued a man from a burning car after a collision in Ottawa on 8 June 1979. The man had lost control and had crashed into the rear of a parked car, causing both it and his own to burst into flames. Capt. Brazeau, who was in the vicinity, ran to the scene and found the victim half-conscious in the wreckage. Braving the spreading fire, he reached inside the car, unfastened the seat-belt and removed him to safety.
