Medal of Bravery
- Awarded on: January 27, 1986
- Invested on: June 13, 1986
On the afternoon of January 4, 1985, Lt. Michael Boychuk, of the Westmount, Quebec, Fire Department, displayed professionalism and dedication beyond expectation when he rescued a man from a burning second-storey apartment. Without breathing apparatus, Lt. Boychuck entered the smoke-filled apartment in search of the victim. In zero visibility, he guided his steps by placing one hand on the wall and concentrating on the victim's faint voice. He located the man and dragged him some ten metres in extremely dense smoke before another firefighter assisted him in pulling the semi-conscious victim to safety.
