Ula Boudreau, S.C. (posthumous) Star of Courage Ula Boudreau lost her life after assuring the safety of her six children, when fire destroyed their home on January 28, 1972. On detecting an odour of burning, the mother rushed to the second floor bedrooms to rouse her children. She brought three down the stairway and returned for the others. Because the spreading fire prevented further access to the stairs, Mrs. Boudreau helped one escape through a second storey window and another onto the verandah roof. Exhausted and distraught, the mother, nevertheless, succeeded in dropping the last child from a window to those below. When an explosion followed, the building became an inferno and Mrs. Boudreau failed to escape.
