Colleen Berry, aged thirteen, saved four younger children from being struck by a car in Oshawa on 19 June 1979. A motorist had failed to stop at an intersection and was hit broadside by another car. Colleen leading the children across the street heard the screech of tires and saw a car skidding towards them. She pushed the children out of its path but was herself struck by the car and suffered wounds which took her to hospital.
