Medal of Bravery
On 31 March 1980 Cst. Donald Clark of the York Regional Police Department at Newmarket, Ontario, was on patrol north of Highway 11. He saw a car swerve at an intersection, overturn and catch fire. He immediately radioed for Ontario Provincial Police, ambulance and fire department assistance, then ran in the direction of the accident. Meanwhile two passing motorists, Frank Armstrong and William Doran, rushed to the scene. With much difficulty they pulled the driver out of the burning car. There was danger that an explosion might occur at any time. Without concern for their lives the three men returned to the car but by now it was engulfed in flames, and they were unable to rescue the two remaining occupants.
