On July 29, 1994, in Surrey, British Columbia, Mr. Jeffrey helped apprehend two bankrobbers. He was leaving the bank when he noticed a man armed with a shotgun. He warned customers on the street not to enter the bank and brought his children to safety in a nearby store. As the robbers left on foot, Mr. Jeffrey followed in his car, watching them throw the gun away. They got into their getaway car but, before they could start the vehicle, Mr. Jeffrey had blocked their path with his car. Although unsure if they had another weapon, he approached the car and told the occupants to get out. While other witnesses grabbed hold of the passenger and recovered the money, Mr. Jeffrey subdued the more aggressive driver and held him until the police arrived.
