On September 8, 1990, Mr. Wigmore rescued a man from a burning house trailer in Sudbury, Ontario. Seeing flames inside his neighbour's residence, he ran to the trailer, tried to open the front door and then kicked it in. He searched quickly for the victim in the burning living room, then went outside and tried the back door. Hearing the victim coughing from inside, Mr. Wigmore immediately forced the door open and crawled in, eventually finding the unconscious man on the bedroom floor. He dragged him outside and then hurried to move two vehicles away from the vicinity of the fire.
