On December 5, 1994, Mr. Speed carried a ten-year-old boy and his bed-ridden grandmother from a burning house in Toronto, Ontario. Mr. Speed had been driving nearby when he was flagged down and asked for help. He rushed inside the smoke-filled house, crawling over debris and around the flames. He eventually spotted the disoriented boy and carried him to the entrance, where someone helped him outside. Mr. Speed then re-entered the burning building and found the woman, who was connected to an oxygen mask and tank. Despite the intense heat, he managed to carry the woman outside, dragging the oxygen tank behind, just as the authorities arrived on the scene.
