Robert John Henry came to the assistance of a police officer who was being attacked by a drug-crazed man on September 4, 1987, in Toronto, Ontario. The police officer had been pursuing the suspect, first by car and then by foot, eventually tackling the man in a backyard where a struggle ensued. Mr. Henry came out of his house to verify the cause of the commotion and then quickly went back to call for assistance from the police. He then returned to assist the police officer in his attempts to control the aggressor. Mr. Henry saw the latter reaching for the policeman's gun and was able to knock his hand away. Mr. Henry then jumped on the assailant, realizing that the policeman was losing strength, and helped to control and handcuff the suspect.
