Medal of Bravery
During the afternoon of November 29, 1987, a few people were skating on Little Jumbo Lake in Saskatchewan. Suddenly, the surface cracked and three members of the party fell through the thin ice into the frigid waters, approximately 40 metres from the shoreline. Immediately, twelve year old Robert McIver and Mr. Theisen proceeded to crawl towards the hole, extending a hockey stick and successfully managed to pull two of the victims to safety. Unfortunately, the third victim had already slipped beneath the surface.
