On January 6, 1988, Rose Marie Reimer did not hesitate to enter the circle of four hungry, ferocious dogs who suddenly attacked a nine-year-old boy playing with his friend in Sherridon, Manitoba. The friend ran to the nearest house for help and Ms. Reimer immediately raced to the boy and began pulling him from the grip of the dogs who were tearing at his head, throat and legs. She was able to pick him up and, with two men trying to keep the dogs at bay, ran to the victim's nearby home where arrangements were made to transport him to Flin Flon Hospital. The boy received approximately three hundred and sixty stitches and was hospitalized for some time, but he would undoubtedly have been killed had Ms. Reimer not gone into the fray and pulled him free.
