Master Corporal Ronald Allen Langevin, M.B., C.D.
Medal of Bravery
During the night of October 1, 1987, Sgt. Randal Keith Brown and MCpl. Ronald Allen Langevin were members of a Search and Rescue team conducting and aerial electronic search for a crashed aircraft in the rugged and mountainous terrain near Manicouagan, Quebec. The small float plane was located in a deep river valley. It was decided that Sgt. Brown and MCpl. Langevin would parachute into the site. Illumination of the area by flares revealed 500-metre cliffs, a fast-flowing river and both a heavily-wooded and burnt rocky surface. They jumped from the aircraft at very low altitude and were successful in reaching the crash site.
