On March 4, 1992, in Toronto, Ontario, Mr. Muir saved a woman whose life was being threatened by her estranged husband. Driving into the underground parking area of his apartment building, Mr. Muir noticed a knife-wielding man moving towards a woman seated in her car. Mr. Muir stopped his truck and walked to the car's passenger side, where he discovered the enraged man attacking a woman. Unsuccessful in his efforts to restrain the aggressor, Mr. Muir continued to distract him by talking to him. When police, notified by a passerby, arrived, Mr. Muir was able to convince the man to drop the knife and surrender.
