On May 25, 1995, during a routine inspection of the traintracks near Drewry, British Columbia, Mr. Sadek saved a colleague from a vicious cougar attack. The animal had pounced without warning. As it grasped the man's hand in its jaws and clawed at his head, the victim managed to drag it twenty feet to his radio. Hearing the man's call for help, Mr. Sadek rushed to his side and tried to scare the beast away, yelling and throwing rocks. He then struck the cougar repeatedly with a wrench, driving it off its victim. Just as the enraged animal turned on Mr. Sadek, he delivered a final blow to its head, knocking it unconscious and enabling their escape.
