On February 3, 1995, in Arthur, Ontario, eleven-year-old Kerry Klingbeil risked her life to pull a six- year-old girl out of the path of an oncoming truck. The two girls were walking hand in hand on their way to school when they stepped out onto the street. Suddenly realizing a truck was bearing down on them, Kerry pulled the younger girl back out of the way. As she did so, Kerry was hit by the truck. An ambulance arrived shortly thereafter and rushed her to the hospital, where she was treated for serious injury.
