On October 30, 1995, Mr. Houle apprehended two armed robbers in Drummondville, Quebec. The two criminals had attacked a man who had just withdrawn money from an automatic banking machine. They struck him repeatedly with a stick, until he was unconscious, and took his wallet. Mr. Houle, a passer-by, reacted immediately when he saw the bloodied face of the victim. He pursued the aggressors and successfully seized one of them. The culprit struggled, but Mr. Houle overcame his resistance. With the help of other passers-by, Mr. Houle held the aggressors until the police arrived.
