Medal of Bravery
Messrs. Grice, Losier and Thomann risked their lives to rescue two men from a burning car on September 19, 1991, in Hamilton, Ontario. Witnessing a two-car collision in which one vehicle burst into flames, Mr. Grice hurried to offer help. Unable to extricate the driver, he successfully removed the passenger and found water to douse the fire. Mr. Thomann jumped through the broken passenger window, tried to free the driver and used his own jacket to shield him from the flames. Mr. Losier also attempted to pull the victim from the car and managed to cut the seat belt. The three continued their efforts until firefighters completed the rescue using the "jaws of life".
