On June 3, 1991, Sgt. Kwasiborski risked his life to save the lives of three men in a car accident on Highway 13, near St-Laurent, Quebec. Sgt. Kwasiborski stopped to help when he saw a car hit a stray object on the highway, flip over, and burst into flames. He hurried to the vehicle, calling to the only conscious victim to move away. Although the passenger side of the car was engulfed in flames, Sgt. Kwasiborski crawled in and removed one of the two other victims, and then returned to free the third man, who regained consciousness while being pulled out. Carrying the unconscious victim over his shoulder, Sgt. Kwasiborski led everyone to safety as the car exploded behind them.
